Motorsport Paddock

In 2017 we’re celebrating motorsport with a paddock dedicated to famous examples and modern day track cars.

The most iconic cars have always been those fired in the crucible of motorsport. Winning on circuit gives these ‘hero’ models enough kudos among the buying public to filter down to the high street and increase sales.

This link is as old as motoring itself so at The Fast Car Festival we’re celebrating with a paddock dedicated to the most famous examples. We start in the ‘sixties with the Lola developed and Ford powered Le Mans winning masterpiece, the GT40. This 205mph sensation finished Le Mans in ’66 in a historic 1, 2, 3 formation, wiping the floor in the process with exotic rivals Ferrari and Porsche. We have a period perfect GT40 on display sporting the original ’66 Le Mans winning livery.

Staying with the swinging ‘sixties theme we’re also showcasing our own, home-grown greats, including the diminutive but deadly Mini Cooper. The monstrously competitive Mini started its career as a rally car and quickly proved a force to be reckoned with. Winning the Welsh Rally in the hands of Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams and later that same year taking an historic victory on the Monte Carlo Rally with Paddy Hopkirk at the helm, the Mini was instantly competitive. After this the Mini Cooper S very quickly started to be taken seriously. A swap from gravel to tarmac didn’t blunt the Mini’s competitive edge either, as it won touring car championships left, right and centre. To honour this we have a racing Mini Cooper on display at TFCF17.

The variety of motorsport disciplines is astonishing and we’re aiming to get the broadest cross section to TFCF17. This means displaying cars from the golden era of racing, to '90s gems such as the Renault Clio Cup Car and a genuine BTCC Honda Accord, right up to modern day purpose-built track cars such as the Ariel Atom and Radical SR3RSX. We'll also have cars from the Time Attack series with some cars producing upwards of 800bhp, right down to a Mk2 Ford Escort Rally car.

If you’re a fan of motorsport then you can’t afford to miss this paddock.

The appearance by any vehicle cannot be guaranteed due to serviceability, commitments or other reasons outside the control of the Event Organisers.
